Deadlines

Never count court days again.

SOOT has a library of South African time limits for every practice area and counts them the way the rules do, so nobody has to count court days on a calendar.

Counted by the rules

Calendar, court and business days, weeks, months and years. First day out, last day in, rolling to the next working day where the rule says so, and dies non from 16 December to 15 January.

Who uses it

  • Attorneys
  • Drafting teams
  • Secretaries

Each person sees this part only if their seat's role allows it. Directors decide who may view, change and assign.

Everything in deadlines

  • Your holidays and closures count

Public holidays, firm closures and court closures are days off in the count.

  • Started for you

A deadline starts from an intake answer (a dismissal date starts the referral deadline), from a filed email whose subject names a document, or by hand.

  • Ours and theirs

For your side, the drafting is due a few working days before the legal deadline. For the other side, SOOT makes a follow-up task the day after their deadline, with follow-up emails.

  • Your firm's own copy

Change any rule for your firm. SOOT's corrections still reach the rules you haven't changed.

  • Shown where you work

The next open deadline is on every matter, and deadlines on your matters show as small markers on the calendar, never as clutter.
