Opening a matter sets up the work
Choose the practice area and SOOT lays out the stages and tasks with due days, asks the intake questions and lists the documents still needed. Answers SOOT already knows are filled in for you.
Stages that finish themselves
A stage completes when its tasks are done, and "what if" branches turn into the right next tasks when you choose an outcome.
Your file numbers, your way
SOOT gives the next number in your firm's format (for example 2026-0142) and can fit old numbers to it, keeping the old number searchable.
Conflict check
See where a new matter's people already appear on other matters, by contact, name or ID number, and record the outcome on the timeline.
Restricted and blocked matters
Lock a sensitive matter to the people on it, or name people who may never see it, whatever their role. They can't find it in search, reports or documents.
A change log nobody can edit
Every change to a matter is recorded with who, which seat, when, and what it was before and after. Not even a director can edit or delete it.
Other parties and related contacts
Opposing parties, attorneys, counsel, sheriffs and correspondents sit on the matter, and each contact's related people are a tap away.
